IA100: Web Technologies Overview Seminar (2-4 hours)
IA101: Web Technologies Overview Workshop (1 day)
Course Overview
Web Technologies Overview looks at the main Internet technologies,
including Advanced HTML, CGI, JavaScript, Java, JSP, ASP, PHP,
CSS, XML and Database Access. These technologies will be positioned
from both a business point of view (market position) and a technical
point of view (how they fit into typical software architectures
used within eCommerce, eBusiness and corporate web-based applications).
The seminar also discusses the trends and features available in
the latest releases of popular tools such as Macromedia's Studio MX 2004,
BEA, IBM and Oracle's Tools and Server Platforms as well as Open Source alternatives.
For many of the technologies and tools discussed,
demonstrations of simple usage will be given.
A key focus of the seminar will be to provide guidance on how
to effectively use these emerging technologies when evolving existing
products and applications. The seminar is not biased for or against
any particular company or technology. Instead it will be describing
experiences in using these emerging technologies in real-world
projects. What works, what doesn't and why? Attendees will be
able to then match their requirements with emerging technologies
more effectively.
The optional workshop (IA101 only) provides attendees with the ability to
play with or examine the tools and technologies discussed in the seminar.
